Description
We are applying for an after-the-fact permit for a partially-installed, Titan brand above ground pool measuring 18' diameter round x 4.5' deep. The pool is equipped with a sand filter and a salt water generator. The yard was not completely level, so they leveled the ground, just beneath the pool. The pool is partially buried on one side due to the slope. The slope is still directed away from ours and neighboring property. The above ground pool has a folding safety ladder and a floating alarm and will soon have a 2' barrier fence mounted to the top of the pool edge. We also have a privacy-fenced-in yard, but we are not utilizing that as our pool safety barrier. My Mother wanted to purchase and have this pool installed as a gift to us on 3/8/26. She called our zoning department and was under the impression that we did not need a permit. My husband and I decided to not complete the install, before investigating ourselves. At that time we did not fill the pool. We are now immediately trying to apply for and obtain a permit for this. We've been in contact with the zoning department since Monday, 3/9. We now have filled the pool just enough to ensure it is "structurally sound" and won't blow away or collapse, per advice from our pool company. We have not yet run any electrical to the pump but it would be run to an existing outdoor GFCI outlet. We've treated the little bit of water with chlorine so mosquitos don't breed. We have a boundary survey for our property from 1/12/23 and the pool is not near or obstructing any easements. The pool is well over 5' from all property lines and over 20' from the foundation of the house.
