Description
Addition of a wheelchair ramp leading up to the front door of our mobile home (located in Strawberry Ridge Mobile Home Park and lot referenced below). Wheelchair ramp will be constructed out of pressure treated lumber and built on top of the existing concrete slab located underneath the existing car port. Ramp and landings will be secured to the existing concrete slab and will not be attached to the home itself. Support Post Details: 4x4 pressure treated posts will be used to support the ramp and landings. All posts will be attached to the existing concrete slab using 4x4 Strong Tie Wood to Concrete base connectors. Base connectors will be secured to the concrete using 6" concrete anchors. A total of 10 support posts will be used for the project. Landing Details: Landings will be built at the bottom and the top of the ramp. The top landing will be a 5' wide x 4' deep x 5.5 feet tall platform built over the existing stairs leading up to the front door (Note: the landing will cover all of the existing stairs and the stairs will no longer be accessed or used). The platform will be framed using 2x6 pressure treated lumber with four 2x6 support joists attached to the frame using joist hangers.. 2x6 pressure treated deck boards will be used to cover the top of the landing. The lower landing will be 4' wide x 4' deep x 3' tall and will serve as the wheelchair ramp entry point based on the layout of the existing car port and access from a parked vehicle within the car port. A 3" threshold riser will connect the platform to the concrete slab allowing for the wheelchair to easily move from the concrete to the lower platform.The platform will be framed using 2x6 pressure treated lumber with four 2x6 support joists attached to the frame using joist hangers.. 2x6 pressure treated deck boards will be used to cover the top of the landing. Both platforms will be secured to the concrete using four 4x4 posts per landing. Ramp Details: A 48" wide by 10 feet long ramp will extend at a 10 degree angle down the side of the mobile home and will be secured to the top and bottom platforms. Two additional 6x6 support posts will be located halfway between the top and bottom platform supporting the ramp. Handrails: 34" high hand rails will be installed on all open sides of the platforms and ramps. 2x4 pressure treated handrails will be attached to the 4x4 support posts referenced above and include a mid-rail support also attached to the 4x4 support posts. Note: Platforms and Ramp will be secured to the concrete and will NOT be attached to the home itself. The entire length and width of the platforms and ramp will be located underneath the existing carport and will not require any modifications to the carport, house, concrete slab, existing support structure or any part of the existing structures on the property. Existing stairs will remain in place and will not be removed. Existing stairs will be completely covered and will no longer be visible or usable to enter the home.There will be no impact to the land, plot or existing elevation or any other existing parts of the structure, land or plot. No additional survey changes or updates will be required. All materials will be properly rated for exterior use and rated as whether proof or whether resistant.
